Colliers appoints Ramaiy Kapoor as MD of data centre business in India

Colliers, Canada-headquartered diversified professional services and investment management company, has appointed Ramaiy Kapoor as managing director of its data centre business in India.

Kapoor comes with years of real estate experience and joins Colliers from CapitaLand, where he was heading the investment and commercials division for the company’s data centre business.

“Colliers has always been focused on bringing in the industry’s best talent and empowering them to lead our business into the future. Ramaiy has long-standing industry relations and a reputation that precedes him,” said Sankey Prasad, chairman, Colliers India. “He has deep insights on the real estate acquisition process of data centres and has managed large portfolios with tenacity. His ardent knowledge of investment strategies and asset management along with his excellent track record of prime deal closures assure us that he will play a significant role in maximising profitability for the firm.”

At Colliers, Kapoor will work closely with the company’s India leadership to capture a higher market share and drive profitability for the firm’s data centre business. Given his business development and stakeholder management abilities and knowledge of the sector, he will seek to tap into new opportunities and expand client relations.

“The Indian data centre industry is poised for high growth over the next decade. The times are exciting, there is an influx of interest from across the globe for investments in India in anticipation of the surge in demand and shift from on premise data centres to colocation. This is supported by conducive government policies and ecosystem,” said Kapoor. “We aim to be at the forefront of this and provide complete end-to-end solutions for our customers across all business functions and project lifecycle. Our team has demonstrated strengths in project management, building management, land acquisitions and capital markets, and we are building capabilities across leasing and operations management. Under the guidance of the top management, I am excited to embark on this journey and add value to the business.”

In May, Colliers had appointed industry veteran Vijaya Ganesh as the managing director, industrial and logistics services. The firm said it is invested in enhancing its service offerings and expanding its India capabilities to adapt to the market shifts and better serve its clients.
